Welcome. If you are new here, this page is the place to begin.
I am Ian Thomas, minister of an Evangelical Baptist church in the UK. Bible Proclaimer exists to give clear, biblical answers to the questions people actually ask, drawn from Scripture rather than from tradition or fashion. There are now more than thirteen hundred questions answered on this site, which is wonderful if you know what you are looking for and a little overwhelming if you do not. So this page hands you a way in.
Three ways to use this site
The Questions and Answers are the heart of Bible Proclaimer, organised by doctrine and by the issues of Christian living, from foundational truths to deep theological study. The Sermons are expository preaching, working through passages and topics from the pulpit. The Books of the Bible studies take you through Scripture itself, book by book. If you ever want simply to explore, the Random Question button will surprise you with something worth reading.
Eight articles to read first
If you read these eight, you will understand both what this site teaches and the heart behind it. They move from the ground up, beginning with the Bible itself and ending with how faith meets the questions our culture is asking.
Start with the foundations
What is biblical inspiration? Everything here rests on the conviction that the Bible is God’s own Word. This is where that conviction is explained.
Who is Jesus? The most important question anyone can ask, and the one your answer to changes everything else.
Understand the gospel
What must I do to be saved? The plainest answer Scripture gives to the most urgent question a person can bring.
What is assurance of salvation, and how can I have it? For everyone who has ever wondered whether they are truly right with God.
See where I stand
What is eternal security? Why I hold that the believer’s standing rests on God’s faithfulness rather than our own.
What is the rapture? One of the distinctive convictions you will find taught throughout this site, explained from Scripture.
Live it out
How can I have a personal relationship with Jesus? Doctrine is never an end in itself. It is meant to draw you closer to the Lord.
Should Christians attend gay weddings? An example of how this site handles the questions our culture is pressing, holding together genuine love for people and genuine faithfulness to Scripture.
Stay connected
New articles go up regularly, and there is a growing library of teaching on the YouTube channel. The best way not to miss anything is to sign up for the newsletter, so the teaching comes to you.
If you have a question of your own that you would like answered from Scripture, I would love to hear it. You can send it through the contact page.
