Reading Time: 9 minutesQuestion 12062. The Bible never uses the word, and yet what Scripture says about abortion is a good deal clearer than is usually admitted, because the question turns on something the Bible addresses directly. What is the life in the womb? Answer that, and most of the argument resolves itself. I want to work through…
Reading Time: 6 minutesQuestion 60047. Can you be a pro-choice Christian? I want to answer the pro-choice Christian question carefully, because it is almost never asked in the abstract. Behind it there is usually a person, and often a hard story, and a pastor who answers as though he were scoring a debating point has failed before he…
Reading Time: 5 minutesQuestion 12063. Assisted dying is no longer a theoretical question in Britain. Abortion, euthanasia, embryo research, artificial intelligence, the treatment of the profoundly disabled: scratch any of them and you find the same buried issue. Who counts as a person? Who is a “someone” rather than a…
Reading Time: 6 minutesQuestion 5022. Human dignity is the worth that belongs to every human being simply because God made us in His own image, and that single sentence carries more weight than whole libraries of philosophy. Everyone talks about dignity. Politicians invoke it, charters enshrine it, campaigners march for it. But ask the modern world where human…
